Roll assembly service - all part of the job!

Our Craven Fawcett service team recently completed a service and maintenance project for Forterra, a leading UK manufacturer of clay and concrete building products, at its Accrington plant.

The project involved servicing 1200 x 1000 high speed rolls, which are used in the manufacture of extruded bricks.

Craven Fawcett, Field Service Manager, Gavin Richardson said: “We removed the adjustable roll assembly and transported it back to Group Rhodes.  We dismantled the unit and fitted a new shaft and bearings whilst it was in our factory. In the meantime, we changed the two bearings on the fixed roll in-situ, We then returned the adjustable roll to Forterra and installed it back into the machine, ensuring it was operating to maximum efficiency.  The whole project had just a three-day turnaround.”

Dave Meredith from Forterra said: “We were really pleased with the work carried out by the Craven Fawcett team.  It was essential that the project could be turned around really quickly in order to minimise downtime at our Accrington plant.  It was definitely a job well done!”
