\"BenVICTORY FOR BEN!

Group Rhodes apprentice Ben Jennings won first prize at the NC Graphics MACH 1 Racing Car Challenge.

The event was organised by NC Graphics who specialise in 3D Advanced CAM Solutions for the Engineering industry. The entrants designed their own cars from scratch and machined them, using NC Graphics DEPOCAM software. Taking part in the competition final, held during the MACH 2006 Show at the NEC, were Joseph Rhodes Limited, Datron Technology Ltd, Excel Machine Tools Ltd, Mori Seki, Kennametal UK Ltd and Coburg Engineering Ltd.

Delighted with his result, Ben commented, “Designing the racing car was great fun. It is always interesting to apply knowledge from the classroom to live engineering projects. Working for Group Rhodes certainly gives you a variety of experience, which in turn allows you to understand the relevance of your studies.“ \"Rhodester\"

Technical Director, and Ben’s Company Mentor, Peter Anderton, praised Ben for his outstanding performance, saying, “Ben has worked hard on the project and his efforts have certainly paid off”

Ben is currently completing an ONC in Mechanical Engineering and is one of five apprentices currently employed on the Group Rhodes Modern Apprenticeship Scheme. The four-year programme entails an initial period of general training before allowing apprentices to specialise in an engineering discipline at ONC, HNC or Degree level.
