Joseph Rhodes Limited, one of Europe’s leading Manufacturers of Metalforming Machinery has again demonstrated an unrivalled ability to undertake cost effective refurbishments of all makes and sizes.
Following the successful installations of a number of Rhodes hydraulic and mechanical presses, The Metal Drum Company has again shown their confidence in Joseph Rhodes by placing an additional order to refurbish their RH160 Mechanical Press.
Based in Chilton, Co Durham, The Metal Drum Company is considered one of UK’s leading manufacturers of industrial metal drums, supplied to the oil and chemical industries. Given the current economic climate, The Metal Drum Company decided to refurbish their RH Mechanical Press in a bid to improve production efficiency.
The Rhodes press, which was stripped and mechanically refurbished, offers one of the best standard specifications in the market place. The press is controlled by an Ortlinghaus combined pneumatic friction clutch and brake unit, which is attached to a flywheel mounted on the drive shaft to ensure exceptionally good stop/start control, important when the press is operated in either second operation or pitch-and-trip modes. The press also incorporates a single reduction gear train, which provides a ‘mechanical advantage’ allowing work to be done high up the working stroke.
As part of the current heightened awareness of the benefits of machine rebuilds in terms of increased productivity and reduced costs, Joseph Rhodes has a proven ability to refurbish both mechanical and hydraulic presses. The highly skilled workforce regularly retrofit CNC control systems and quick tool changing facilities along with integrating the latest material feed and transfer systems.
