Charity three peaks fundraiser for Move Ahead

Group Rhodes, the Wakefield-based engineering company, has raised £2,600 for Move Ahead, the local charity that provides help and long term care for brain injury sufferers and their carers.

A team of six Group Rhodes employees raised the money by tackling the gruelling Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, which saw the team climbing the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in under 12 hours.

Following installation of a new central heating system at its Centre in Outwood, Move Ahead will use the funds to make further improvements, including the provision of audio visual equipment and better wheelchair access. In addition, some of the money will go towards covering the cost of away days for its members.

Presenting a cheque to the charity, Group Rhodes Human Resource Manager, Angie Laycock, said: “This was a tough challenge for our team, but many people who are supported by Move Ahead face enormous challenges every day.   We would like to thank everyone who sponsored our team members and we’re delighted to be able to again support such a worthwhile charity.”

Secretary of Move Ahead, Glennis Brandwood said: “We can’t thank Group Rhodes and its employees enough for their continued support. The funds that they have raised will make a huge difference to our service users.  As a charity, we rely on the support of local businesses, the community and volunteers to enable us to carry on with our essential work.”

Move Ahead is always on the lookout for volunteers to support the charity and members.
