Materials & Dispatch Coordinator

- Hours of Work: 37 hours a week
- 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday, with half an hour lunch break
8am to 1pm, Friday
We are looking for a Materials & Dispatch Coordinator to join our expanding Group Rhodes team.
MAIN FUNCTION & SCOPE OF THE JOB:
The purpose of the role is to support the efficient flow of materials and components through the manufacturing process. This is a hands-on role and involves receiving of incoming raw materials through to the preparation of finished goods for dispatch.
MAIN DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Goods Receiving
- Receive, check and record incoming materials and deliveries, ensuring they are safely unloaded, stored, traceable and any discrepancies or damage are reported
Raw Material & Stock Control
- Maintain safe, organised and clearly labelled raw material storage, with accurate stock records, regular checks and proper identification of reusable offcuts
Material Preparation
- Prepare, verify and allocate raw materials for production whilst minimising waste through effective cutting, identification and stock return processes
Production Support
- Support production flow by moving and supplying the correct materials to departments on time, while communicating any shortages, discrepancies or delays.
Inspection
- Carry out basic quality checks against requirements, reporting any defects or non-conforming items, and handling components carefully to prevent damage
Deburring & Finishing
- Carry out finishing work such as deburring, cleaning and preparation for the next stage, ensuring components are well-presented and completed to a high standard
Painting
- Carry out painting preparation and application, ensuring suitable finish, safe working practices and a clean, organised painting area
Dispatch Preparation
- Prepare finished goods for dispatch by checking, cleaning, protecting, packaging and organising items to prevent damage and support timely collection
Health, Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow health, safety and housekeeping procedures, including PPE, manual handling and COSHH requirements, while keeping work arears safe and organised
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications
- No formal qualifications required; relevant practical skills and experience required (E)
- Relevant engineering, manufacturing or vocational qualification (D)
- Forklift truck, overhead crane or other lifting equipment certification (D)
- Relevant training or certification in manual handling, COSHH or workplace safety (D)
Skills & Knowledge
- Practical, hands-on approach to work (E)
- Good organisational skills with good attention to detail (E)
- Ability to work accurately and follow instructions (E)
- Ability to read basic measurements and use standard measuring equipment (E)
- Comfortable handling a variety of materials and manufacturing components (E)
- Able to work independently and as well as part of a wider production team (E)
- Able to work safely within an industrial/manufacturing environment (E)
- Able to understand basic engineering drawings (E)
Experience
- Previous experience within an engineering, manufacturing, warehouse or materials environment (D)
- Experience handling steel bar, tube, plate or similar raw materials (D)
- Experience operating industrial saws (D)
- Experience with stock control or materials management, and carrying our basic inspection (D)
- Experience spray painting or industrial finishing (D)
- Previous experience within an engineering, manufacturing, warehouse or materials environment (D)
