The Rhodes process will produce an area of 1m2 at a rate of 3500 tonnes per annum. Geared initially to produce components for the Automotive and the Aerospace sectors on an industrial scale, the new process offers reduced production time and manufacturing cost.

Producing semi-finished recyclable off-axis thermoplastic laminate with variable fibre orientations at an incredible rate of 225 m2/h, the new process not only meets the output demands of the mass production markets but also considerably brings down the price of manufacture compared with current methods. With such high production volumes the processing costs will be a fraction of the cost associated with current manufacturing methods.

The proposed thermoplastic polymer has excellent material properties over competing materials such as steel and carbon fibre. These include:

  • Superior strength to weight ratio
  • High impact strength
  • Environmental resistance
  • Re-formability
  • Recyclability
  • Stealth applications
